The ideal time for a maternity session is 30 weeks, when your bump is beautifully rounded but you still feel comfortable. However, every pregnancy is different, so we can adjust the timing based on what feels best for you.
Unlike many photographers who only recommend sessions within the first two weeks, I believe the best time for your newborn session is whenever you feel good and your baby is well. While early sessions can capture those sleepy, curled-up poses, I want you to feel comfortable and truly enjoy the experience. Portraits have a way of taking you back to the exact moment they were taken, and I don’t want you to look at a beautiful image and only remember how exhausted or sore you felt. Whether it’s in the first few days or a few weeks later, we’ll create timeless, heartfelt images that you’ll cherish forever.
My sessions take place in my studio, which is designed for a relaxed, effortless experience with perfect lighting, curated wardrobe options, and a soft, neutral backdrop to create timeless heirloom portraits. Outdoor sessions are available for select family and motherhood sessions.
Session length varies depending on the type:
- Maternity & Motherhood: About 1-1.5 hours
- Newborn: Around 2-3 hours, allowing time for feeding, soothing, and breaks
- Family & Heirloom Portraits: Typically 45 minutes to 1 hour
Yes! I believe your portraits deserve to be more than just digital files. I offer custom-framed prints, heirloom albums, and fine art prints so you can enjoy your images in a tangible way for generations. I’ll guide you through selecting the perfect pieces for your home.
Absolutely! I encourage parents and siblings to be part of the session to capture the deep bond of your growing family. If you’d like to include grandparents, extended family, or even your dog, I welcome them as well! These are precious moments, and I love creating portraits that celebrate the love surrounding your little one. We’ll plan the session to ensure everyone feels comfortable and included in these special memories.
A soft-proofed gallery will be ready for you to view within 4 weeks after your session. From there, you’ll select your favorite images for final retouching. The completed digital images and any ordered artwork take a few additional weeks to perfect, ensuring every detail is just right. Once everything is ready, I personally hand-deliver your artwork to your home, so you can experience the beauty of your portraits in a truly special way.
